Default Wiring LEDs, need help

Ok, well, here's what I have. 4 LEDS, each drawing 3.5v. I want to run them off a 7v line. Can I wire them in series (like in my humble paint drawing below?) or will this not work? I can wire two pairs of two LEDs in series (3.5+3.5=7v!) and run them right? And the side of the LED is the positive? The one with the cut edge on it right? Thanks!
EDIT: Arg, forgot my pic

The longer end of the LED is positive...I'm still thinking of that 7v question...never been the best at wiring

Ok I think I got it. Wire two pairs of LEDs in parallel, and then wire them together in a series....I'll make a picture quick... hold on a sec........

if u put them in series, then they will work
if u connect them in parallel, you need a 85ohm resistor (if ur LEDs are ultra bright)

wow non-ultra bright drawing 30mA
well if u connect them in series, they will work
if u do it in parallel, use a 60ohm resistor

They're 1500 IVMin, that's thier brightness right? If it is, how bright could I expect them to be, I'm trying to use 4 of them to light up a perspexs panel about 6cm x 3cm, the back of the panel has been sanded, so you can't see through it. Will I need brighter ones do you tyhink? :/

Each LED draws 3.5v. If you wire them in a series, they'll draw 14v....I think....I finished my picture!!! I hope this works.

Heres the picture
