Default Motherboard without a case question....

Hello, i was thinking about putting my moterboard not in a case this time instead let it sit on something and attach all to components to that. Blame it on lazyness or lack of time, i just want to build it without a case. My question, what do i put under the moterboard to provent it from grounding? Do i put cardboard or thin strip of striphome? It sounds like a dumb question but i just dont know. Thanks.

Cardboard box. Anything non metallic should do the trick.

Use the anti-static bag your board came in, it's the best at preventing shorts and is thin, so it won't take up space.

How are you planning on keeping the peripheral cards secure without the case? You could also get one of those TechStations. It keeps everything open but it also adds security to your peripheral cards.

lol i just put my mobo on anything i can find, even on my desk. i was scared the pins under it are gonna get bent, but since they're so short, nothing happened.

put the mobo on the edge of the desk, allow the end of extension cards to sit in the air not on the desk, otherwise the mobo will be tilted

i cant recommend putting your mobo directly over a piece of cardboard or the anti-static plastic bag. It could be damaged either by overheat, static or even mechanical damage. I use mine mounted over an old motherboard tray from a dead case, which is in turn placed over the mobo box. Try at least to use something (rubber or good plastic) to lift it a little bit from the surface...

And do take care with losen objects laying around!
