I use an X Acto knife and make deep grooves along the cut, and then when it's weak enough pull it out. This takes longer, but you don't have to worry about any cracks or imperfections.
__________________EDIT: Go slow and make a shallow cut the first time as your guide groove. Guide grooves help alot for cutting.

You could also use a razor saw, it's a very thin fine saw that I use for cutting plastics finely:
