i need to know how to insulate my leds i have them wired with wire with little parts stripped for each led but because of the resistor and led legs there is about an inch and a half of exposed metal i need to know hoe to insulate this i dont think electrial tape wil work because it is shaped like this: _||__ the left side is the negative and the right is the posative and longer because of the resistor

I use hotglue for that... it's clear and works really well.

You can also use heatshrink but you have to use the thin stuff its only just thicker than wire. And preferably a hot air gun but you can use a hairdryer.

you wrap some electrical tape around the finished product

No, don't use tape, hotglue or anything else. You want to use liquid electrical tape. Thats it, end of story. There is no better or sure way other then using this product. Heat shrink is terrible if you want to bend the leads on the LEDs, and tape is just messy and will eventually come of. USe liquid electrical tape, use the link I gave to look for a good place to buy or go to local ACE hardware to buy some as what I did when I did LED work for my case. It works, get it

Heatshrink for sure, and just use a lighter to shrink it. It's neat and not messy like glues and tape. Oh, and if you want to bend it, reheat it for a second with a lighter. And it'll be a solid job, because it wont bend when cool (I've lost a few LEDs to excess leg movemnent, but my bad I spose. Never happened since I use heatshrink though).
