Is there a uniform scale to use? I'd suggest millimeters, but you Americans love your backwards, awkward feet and inches.

The British Gravitational system doesn't make as much sense to me as the metric system; and the metric system is easier to work with as well. For most CADD/solids modeling packages it doesn't matter if the units used for all the models are the same or if they match the units used for the assembly as the part files also contain the units and the scale will be correct when placed into an assembly.

I've just uploaded a fully parametric Pro-E WF4 model to define the black Ice series radiators. I've programmed it to model the correct tanks based on the selected radiator style. Upon regeneration it will prompt for the fan size, number of fans, radiator style, height, width, thickness, and (if a fan size other than 80mm, 92mm, 120mm, or 140mm is selected) the hole spacing for the fan mounting holes.
I'll get the screenshots and Autodesk Inventor files up later on today I've also created a family table with instances for each of the following radiator models:

I've added a parametric model of a case fan; just have to finish converting to Inventor (have to redownload from Autodesk since I re-formatted my rig)
The model has instances for the following fan sizes:

This is my first post on this forum and i registered only cause of this thread.
![]() It's really great job Rado. ![]() I have an idea.. we would have to build an file server and make utilitis on it like this:Motherboard trays 5,25 drives (DVD/CDdrives, 5,25 to 3,5 converters, fan controllers, LCDs,..) 3,5 drives (-||-) fans Radiators waterblocks pumps resoirvars ATX PCI backpanels et. if you understand.. and anyone could make a model send it to admin, admin would tell if it meets all specs and post it on server so we would have opensorce models for any modders which use cad programs.. ![]() so if you agree and anyone has an file server for free to serve this files would be great! |

We are already hosting these files on Box.net (used by OCN for larger files or when more than 5 files need to be linked in a single post). if anyone wants to submit additional CAD models please LMK and I can upload them to and link them in this thread.

AutoCAD is primarily for 3D drawing/Drafting; whereas Inventor (the Autodesk product I'd recommend) is designed for 3D modeling as well as thermal/structural analysis. Inventor also uses assemblies so you can model individual parts then just assemble them; and if 1 part is used many times you just have to model it once.
