You don't want to use gas on the home based powder. Even with the gun, if you get it too close to the part you are coating, you can have a flash fire if you strike an arc. If the flame is outside where you are coating then you will be fine, you just don't want an open flame.

Just think of what this would look like with Chrome powder. And the chrome powder is what I call a 5' chrome. From 5' away, you can't tell that it wasn't plated.

Here is a link that you can order powder on the same site as the gun. If that is not enough colors for you, then I will have to dig up the site that I use for some special colors .

Dude, it's really easy. And, if you are painting something and you mess up, you have to wait for it to dry and sand it down or strip the whole thing. With powder, you just get your blow gun out and blow the powder off and spray it again. You can not mess up until you put it in the oven. At that point, you are committed to the color. This stuff is a PITA to get off once it's on. Paint is 1mil thick, powder when cured is 3mils.

And lets say that you are spraying powder and you touch it or something else touches it, just hit that spot again.

That's a hell of a lot of money (gun, oven, blaster) spent just to coat small small parts. You would have to be doing a lot of PSU covers and HDD caddies to make that a worthwhile investment.

The reason I use an industrial facility is so I can get large parts (like an entire chassis) coated.

I feel ya Cyber. You don't have to get the sand blaster it's just a whole lot faster with it. I can get ovens for about 10 bux that look like crap but the oven still works. And, I do powder coating for another site on the side and it has more than paid for it's self 10fold. If it can be coated, it gets coated. I grab my powder and the cat runs

Yes but you then would have to do a hell of a lot of cases to pay for the industrial facility

IMO I would agree with CD

My only interest in power coats would be an entire case, not small parts. Small parts I can dip them in paint myself quite cheaply (100$ setup will set me good to go to dip as much as I want)

but all i need is a bigger oven.... lol
