Do you think it might be possible to make an acrylic laptop? not out of laptop parts because that would be too hard, but maybe using a nano or pico ITX mainboard and CPU. I was just thinking that could look really cool. you could get sata laptop drives, so you could just use really short, UV cables, and put some UV cold cathodes in there. The only problem might be the screen, i'm not sure how that would work yet.

I've seen people remove the hardware from PS3's and turn them acrylic... so its more than likely possible

For the screen you can just disassemble a thin LCD monitor.
It would be chunky though...

but how would you hook it up to the vga or dvi port?

It would certainly be possible, and if done right could look really cool. If you were to use the guts of an LCD monitor, you would likely have to either get a short VGA/DVI cable or cut the VGA/DVI cord and solder the wires directly to the appropriate contacts on the PCB.
