Hey Altimax98

I would remove the mobo support pegs (brass standoffs) they just unscrew easily and it only takes a minute.

Thank you very much. It does take a bit of money though since your doing a better job than average and dont forget the extra hours in the project also.

Happy modding.

Default questions

Great guide! I'm currently following this one Still at "2) Sand/strip the old/original surface" though.

Just want to ask does this look ok:

"Did I sand too much?" (the text in the picture is unclear)

I'm still at 220 grit (wet sanding) following one motion only (left to right). This is my first time sanding and I think I sanded too deep on certain parts (as indicated by the yellow boxes). Is this ok? Personally, I think the whole panel should look like that because it's already exposing the metal (will make better contact with primer). The dull portions still contain some amount of the old paint (i think), but I need your expert opinion.

Also, after I finally sand the whole side panel with 220 grit (left to right), I should finish sanding with 320 grit (up and down) to remove the scratches left by the 220, right? or am i wrong?

Sorry for the noobish questions. I just don't want to mess this up.. I really want to imitate your awesome mirror finish!

Thanks man for the compliment. Dont be sorry lol.. its natural to have questions. If you follow the guide and suppliment it with the info im my build log you'll do fine.

You dont have to "wet" sand the panel, the 80 and 220 should be dry sanded since you dont want the water on the metal. Use the solvent to clean the panel often as you like to check progress and just blow the dust off from sanding when it builds up. I used a sander on the big parts that's why there's no paint left on it and its all smooth. 220 Grit is A-ok, The middle part between the yellows looks great. The other little parts in yellow which is ok to leave like that they look fine. The big part in yellow the corner upper right could use some more sanding.

You dont have to go finer than that. Leave the sanding at 220 and use self etch for your first primer/ then high build primer surfacer for your final primer. If you need addtional info check out the Blue Light log , IN the TOC where i was priming it. You dont have to be perfect on it like mine was , as long as you have it looking like the center part or the little yellow boxes its good. and dont put too much pressure on your sanding as to create deep grooves in the metal. Use your palm to rub over it and " feel" the surface of the panel it should feel somewhat to mostly smooth when your done.
