Default operation case paint all advice appreciated

I've decided to paint the interior of my themaltake armor black to match the exterior.

Any recommendations on paint or prepping? This is my first go at this type of mod and I really don't want to screw up a $200 case.

Thanks in advance!

I am assuming you want a gloosy finish right? You will need to make sure that the metal is smooth, free of debris and clean. Sand it smooth if needed with about a 200 grit, use a tack rag (rag enpregnated with a sticky turpintine based substance) to ensure all debris is out of it and then use a solvent the same base as the paint you are using to clean the surface to be painted. After this put 2 good coats of primer on it and let that cure. Wet sand the primer with a sanding block. If it is smooth apply your paint after you wipe the primer down and make sure it is clean, if not you will have imperfections such as fisheyes. When applying the paint hold the can or gun 6-10 inches away depending on the pressure (for a spray gun I beleive under 30psi is what is reccomended) If you are too close you will get a orange peel texture and if you are too far away you will get a lot of overspray (grainy finish) After you have painted it, let it cure then wet sand it with around a 2000 grit until smooth. You can then choose to apply another coat or polish the one you just put on. (I would apply another coat, wetsand it again, then polish and buff it out)

Thanks for the advice. I am looking at glossy black. can you recommend a good quality paint that will adhere to the steel?

Try to use an expensive automotive finish like you get at most auto parts stores. If you have a sherwin williams automotive paint store try and get a spray can from them. Just when you go into a parts store ask for advice on what the best can spray paint they have is. Most of the time the quality of your finish will depend on wether you mixed different based paints, how you prepped, how you applied and what you did to finish it.
