Default Old-school 'doublewide' server case: modder's dream!!
UPDATE: Work has commenced on this modding project...

So, I finally go around to striping and cleaning out this old server that I got for free and my, she is old and she's a beauty:









It had redundant 420W power supplies which have since been torn apart so I could steal the 38mm Panaflo fans in 'em (now on one of my rads). I also pulled a two Deltas - a 25mm and a 38mm - and a 38mm Sunon fan from this thing. As you can see, the "business-side" of the case is designed for high airflow.

The case had an elaborate hot-swappable HDDenclosure/RAID controller setup in the right-hand part of it but it was way too old and complicated to be worth saving. I did save the drives that were in it but I already posted about those.

I have a couple weeks with nothing to do (semester is finished, don't start work till May) and this may be my all-consuming modding project... First step would be a total de-rivet and all black ninja paint.

Funny you should say that... I live on Vancouver Island as well, just north of Nanaimo.

De-riveting this case is going to be a big job. There are a ton of pieces and I have never de-riveted a case before but I've got spare time and I want to paint it properly.

I've got a ton of ideas about how my rads could be mounted... There's so many possibilities!!

A big ass 480mm rad on the side would be sweeeeeet. Now I want one of those, I know I've seen some like that or similar at the local recycling yard where PCs are dropped off. Im gonna have to take a look.

Heh, damn, that's right. Still a little far for me right now though. Need to get off me lazy arse and get my lisence.
