Since my Cosmos mod has been done, I have received several questions about my fans. So I put together this guide last night at work. Enjoy.
![]() These are the tools you will need for this mod: ![]() Paint you can get at any hardware store. Just an FYI, Red/Orange is all the same color, however, I have found this stuff glows the best: ![]() Pick Set: ![]() One of my best friends right here: ![]() Now let's get down to business. This is the extra fan we will be painting. Peel up the sticker on the back: ![]() Pop the rubber plug out: ![]() Be very careful with the little booger. It will fly like a spring if you pinch it wrong. I use my right angle pick to hold one side in place, while the other pick peels up the other side: ![]() ![]() You can barely see the slit in it, but it's there: ![]() There will be a very thin plastic shim under the "c" clip. Don't lose it: ![]() Next in line there is an "o" ring: ![]() ![]() Set them aside somewhere safe: ![]() Now you can push the shaft through the frame and separate the two pieces: ![]() The other side will have an "o" ring as well. It can stay in place if you wish: ![]() We want to cover the magnet up inside the fan so we don't paint it. So we are going to cut some thin cardboard for a cover. So get your compass out: ![]() ![]() Another one of my best friends. You should get yourself a set: ![]() Draw your circle: ![]() Make the center hole bigger: ![]() Win: ![]() Cut that bad boy out: ![]() Slip it over the shaft. It should fit snugly: ![]() ![]() Now we want to make some soft jaws for our vice grips. I use threaded mailing tape. It is some tough stuff. You don't want to scar the shaft with metal on metal so just pinch the shaft tight enough to hold the blades steady: ![]() ![]() ![]() Wipe your fan down with some: ![]() Get some gloves so you can hold and rotate the fan while you paint without making a huge mess:

Light coats of white primer or flat white:
![]() I hold it like this to get the underside of the fins. They are kind of a pain to get to: ![]() ![]() Set it down and wait a half hour between coats of primer: ![]() The red is laid: ![]() ![]() ![]() Now we are going to get frame ready for the fan. Get your oil out, and put one drop down: ![]() Lay your pick down in it: ![]() Get a little drop on the end of it: ![]() Let it drip down into the bushing: ![]() Pop the cap off of the blades, and clean up any paint that got on the shaft: ![]() Make a pillow to hold up the blades into the frame (so you can attach the "c" clip): ![]() ![]() ![]() Put the "o" ring back in: ![]() Shim: ![]() "C" clip: ![]() Plug: ![]() Sticker: ![]() There you go! Now get to it! ![]() ![]() You can tell I have done this before ![]() Cool looking tools are a bonus! LOL ![]() Thanks for watching. I hope this helps someone out. ![]() Ramsey77

That's pretty badass, Kudos my good man. I'll definitly have to do that with some of the bland looking fans I have laying around. +1

Very nice walk-through Ramsey.
+1 The oil doesn't by any chance make them a little quieter does it?

Thats a wonderful guide...Wish you would of had this up before I did my Tuxedo mod last year. I did it the really hard way with the fan blades still attached.
