Wow thanks a lot, this is great!!
Literally, within the past hour I've been wondering if I could install blue LED fans in the CM Scout case that has red ones stock. It's weird that I stumble upon this. Now I can just change the bulbs! If I change the red LEDs to blue ones, will I still be able to turn them on/off with the front panel button on the Scout? EDIT: Or is it easy to turn on/off the LEDs of any case fan via a switch? I'm building a new rig and would really like an Antec 300, but I want some blue fans up front and would like to be able to turn the lights off when I go to sleep. I know there are buttons you can buy, but where do they hook up to? ie front panel, inside (would be pointless kinda)? Thanks in advance Last edited by Litebulb : 06-25-09 at 09:36 PM |

God damn that is cool.
+rep to you I need to get a soldering iron and practice, so that way I can shorten extra cables and make them better lengths to clean up the backside of my case more. LED's look better on fans that have clear fins though, it makes the whole fan light up.

This is true. I have a couple of them that will be installed in the front of the Antec 900 that will have the blues taken out of them, and the 15000mcd Greens that I have put in. That thing is going to kill on the lighting lol. I will have that set so that I can turn down the brightness though.

Added 4 More LED's
Just thought I would share the install of 4 more LED's. I installed these so that they will shine out of the inside, middle of the fan. The last 4 that I installed are ment to be seen on the outside of the case. These will shine inside the case. I think the effect is pretty cool. Here you can see that I took the blades off, drilled the holes where I wanted the LED's, and put the LED's in place. ![]() Ready for Caps ![]() Caps installed ![]() ![]() Now I won't go through the wiring process again as it's the exact same as the first 4 LED's. When I was done, I put the blades back on and fired it up. ![]() Let me know what you think. |
