That is a decent write up, but there in one thing that he said that you should never do. Never hook one of these up backwards. It will shorten the life of the bulb. There is a built-in reverse polarity protection in the LED's but it's not much. If you put a full +12v to it, you can expect it to lose about 75% of it's life in a single second. that is my experience anyway.

I'm sure that you read in my writeup that there are two sides to the LED's, the Anode (+) and the Cathode (-). And in every LED the Anode is the small side inside the LED case and the Cathode is always the bigger one. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps out someone.

But when I did mine I took note of the +/-. The LEDs I bought aren't bright enough so I ordered some brighter ones and will use your guide with those. I also have a Cooler Master Storm Scout and I'll eventually wire all of my fans to turn the leds on/off with the button on the case.
That was the part of the statement that I was referrign to in saying that there is an easy way as long as they are not a solid color. If you need any help with your install, feel free to hit me up

Edit: I'm have not had enough coffee lol. He is talking about teh wire on teh fan its self. The best way to check this is with a volt meter if you have one. If not, you can just check the old LED before you cut it off.

The LED's are 5v LED's and the resistor lets them run on +12v.

Awesome guide.

Quick question though: where would be the best place to buy 5mm LEDs? About 20-30 or so. Feel like bringing the glow back to my Antec 300 which previously had 2x blue tri-cools... just snipped most of the wiring going to and from the LEDs.

Just need to decide on colors... stuck between green/white and pink/orange (for the "lulz").

System: Well... it's certainly clocked.
