Wow, I totally looked over this post. Sorry Bro.

I have that exact fan controller but I have a question before I do anything. Can you remove the plastic knobs? I can't get them off of mine.

Some questions for ya.

Isn't the red wire 5v while the yellow is 12v?

Will running LEDs without resistors on the red wire break em?

Where can I buy resistors locally? Ace?

Yes, the red wire coming out of your PSU is +5v. The Yellow is +12v. I have the resistors for the LED's for +12v use. I have put the LED's that I have on the +5v without the resistor but I didn't run them that long. I will hook a couple up and see how long they last and post it up in here. But, what I would do is just put the resistor on the LED, and if its too bright at 12v, then you can put it on the 5v line to make it a little more dim. I will post up what I find out with the +5v without resistors.

If I bought high gauge speaker online is is the same thing as the wire you use for LEDs? I'm talking about replacing wires(or extending them) on fans with LEDs. Basically, I'm asking if there is a difference between 24 gauge speaker wire and 24 gauge wire.

Speaker wire is normally finer with more strands. But, LED's only run at about 20ma so it shouldn't matter too much. I have run these lights on 36ga wire that you can see in this thread. That is some really small stuff but it works cause there is not that much draw on the line. Hope this helps.

My wire stripper only goes up to 24 yet I can still strip the stock LED wires with some angling. Is there another method to wire stripping?

I take no responsibility if you get cut, but I just roll the wire on a knife. I'm not suggesting that you do this, it's just what I do for the thin wires. You can also just grab the really fine wire with your thumb nail and index finger where you want to strip it and pull. You may have to do it a couple times, but it works for me.

I can't find any gauge higher than 24 gauge with free shipping on Amazon but it should be good enough for me. If I get higher gauge wire I'll try your techniques though. Thanks +rep
