Default How do I Control multiple fans with one controler?

I'm trying to figure out how to control 6 fans with one knob on my controller without overloading the circuit. Is that even possible?

probably not with an aftermarket fan controller, but you could get a potentiometer and make your own. just make sure the circuit can handle the load

well basically you need the same exact fan. put the red and black wires together and attach them to one 3pin connector. then use ONE yellow from any of the fans and attach it to the 3pin connector. i wouldnt recommend doing this with high performance fans or more than 3 fans

EDIT:

quick paint sketch for you

hope it makes things clearer

I get how to do that, but I want to control 6 together and I think it would be too much for a little 3-pin connector to power through my fan controller. The fan controller is powered by a small 4 pin(floppy) connector. I guess I'm wondering if I could power the fans separately and then use the yellow wire to control them by plugging in just the yellow wire only into the controller. Or would that not work?

The yellow cable is used to monitor fan speed, not to adjust speed. The only way to find out is too see how much power each channel on the fan controller can take and then figure out how much power 6 fans draw.

Apparently I can only run 4 of my fans on each channel of my controller. Thanks for helping me figure this out.

Oh I guess I have one more question. Can I run power to the fan controller and a single yellow to my MB to monitor the speed? Just clarifying here; a yellow wire is NOT needed to control the fans RPMs?

the whole thing with just wiring a SINGLE yellow is because you dont want your fan controller/mobo to think its running at 8,000 rpm=] (not sure if you have a display on your fan controller or not)

the only thing is, i wouldnt run more than 1 fan per mobo connector or any high performance fans on it. the single yellow wire will work fine, infact i have an adapter to do it. ive just heard bad things with drawing to many amps off of the fan connector
