I believe the original intention is to place the dial/knob along with the potentiometer somewhere else instead of the controller case. So you can just unsolder the pot from the controller board with all the regulators and add wire so you can have the knob that controls the fan anywhere in your case.

thanks for all the pics and links and help

rep+ for you guys... the link from hiiyah777 helped alot... ya i just want to desolder the pots from the board and the put wire extensions to them so i can put them in more convienent and well sexier places than taking up a drive spot... tho on a haf 932 i have 6 slots but the mesh bay covers just look sexy with nothing in them lol
