I know a faster way of rounding them, fold the cables, then use rubber bands or zipties!

Yea but I bet you alot of people will do it that way because its quick and easy. And you dont need to buy sleeving. Also what is a wire loom?

In contrast to braided sleeving, a wire loom is a corrugated/flexible plastic tube to contain wiring (essentially a very flexible, light duty conduit); split loom is the same except for the fact that it's cut along the side allowing it to be installed over already existing wiring (i.e. without having to remove the connectors)
Edit: meant to add a pic of a wire loom

Ok. I'd like to add this to the guide. I just discovered this. IDE cable takes Sharpie ink pretty well if you allow it to dry for a couple seconds. I just spent the last 2 hours coloring the cables after I separated them. After that, I wrapped them in clear packing tape. The results where actually somewhat worth it. It certainly looks better than plain old gray IDE. Here is a picture. The quality is low, so it actually looks a bit better than this. It's dark green if you can't tell.

I just cut up an extra IDE cable but I don't have any sleeving right now. This should like nice when I get my new mobo, cpu, and gpu tomorrow and redo my cable management.
I just wrapped it in duct tape. It looks better than a plain IDE cable.
