puting tap on top of case will make it look crap

not just putting double sided tape alone, i meant tape something to top of case that would obstruct cat(s) from getting up there, Also when i put 2 soft chairs on each side of my lazy boy with blankets they now go there instead of my cases.

Why would you just not discipline the cat and make it get off?

But for mods I would reccomend a sloped surface that is slipery. Or some delta metal fans of death with no grills.
