Sup. I want to paint the interior of my CM 690 black, and deck it out with some red-LED CM R4 fans. What method would give me the best results without costing too much? (i.e. powdercoat is out of the question)
I really know nothing about painting, except you have to rough up the metal first, then put a few coats of primer, and then put on the paint, and then finally put on the clear finish. Are those steps correct? How does plasti-dip work? Does it need priming, or do you just spray it on? And how much does it cost?

Wet dry paper, sand down. Few layers of spray paint primer and then when dry, a few layers of black spray paint. Done!

Sounds good. Wouldn't I need a type of clear coat in the end to protect the paint? I don't want the stuff to come off. I'd like a quick and cheap method but nothing half-assed.

It doesn't come off unless you really scratch at it. The primer and sanding it means it grips the case quite a bit. You can look into top coats if you want, just have a gander at the different cans, might find you want gloss and not matt

Cool. So, can anyone give me a really detailed list of stuff to buy? I would really appreciate it.
Example: Buy a 4x4 square of 2000-grit sand paper Buy a can of MegaBrand Super Paint Extreme etc etc.

For prep work on surface just use a scotch-brite pad, it gives just enough for primer to bite into. 2 coats of primer (your pick) let it dry between coats and maybe an hour for last coat. 3 coats for final paint job. Make sure that you spray these coats in very light coverings and let stand 30 minutes between each. Let it sit a good 24/48 hours for a good cure. If your gonna put a clear coat on also use steps above. Thats in a nut shell. Hope that helps....GL!

EDIT: Also put the cans of paint before you use them into a hot bucket of water so the paint get heated up so it comes out for fine and even.

you can save yourself the clear coat step if you use Rustoleum Universal brand Gloss colors. That stuff has a hi-gloss finish without clearing
