Yeah, it would suck if they just broke shortly after. I'd like to use a maganetic system still I think to attach a front and rear panel. Still need to work out how to do that.

2.5" hard drive magnets. They're thin and stronger than pretty much anything else that small. They're just a little tough to "harvest"

Okay, so I think the tech station is in its final stages before production.
The fan grills will be cut straight into the aluminum panels which are held on with magnets. The outside panels are brushed aluminum and the inside panels and MB tray are acrylic of some sort, 1/4". The handles on the panels are these. MB tray holes aren't in the sketchup model. Digital files: AutoCAD - Panel sizes SketchUp - 3D model So, what do you all think?

The beginning of construction nears ever closer. Here are some renders I just made. The outsides are brushed aluminum, MB tray is solid black acrylic and insides are transparent black acrylic. I'm liking how it looks.
The little cream colored boxes are the magnetic cabinet catches for holding on the removable panels. Handles on the panels will be something like this or this. What do you all think? ![]() ![]()

Yeah, I am well versed in AutoCAD and tried SketchUp a while back. I ran away crying. This time I sat down determined and picked it up pretty quick I think. It is nice for some things but I am sure more productive in my AutoCAD (for 2D stuff, haven't dabbled with 3D).

Solidworks for me.
Though Sketchup works on my Atom based netbook... Anyways, nice designs. I'm working on my own acrylic bench as well.

Im sure I could get sketchup quick, but having had 2 semesters of Solidworks and Pro E it is much easier to just throw something up in Solidworks than try to learn a whole new program.
