I'm thinking about cutting a hole in the bottom of my case for a 120mm fan, wondering how much a dremel bit will cost to cut metal. I plan on borrowing a friends dremel.

Less than $7 bucks for a pack of 5. Get the reinforced ones. I find they last way longer especially if you are cutting steel

Buy some good ones now, that will last you longer, instead of buying the cheapest kind, and possibly breaking them or wearing them out

I have to mention once more...get the reinforced ones. I had both and the non-reinforced models just grind down almost instantly on steel.

Cutting into aluminum. But I don't own a dremel Borrowing a friends.

in case no one else mentioned it, get the reinforced cuttoff disks for metal.

if youre cutting steel, use medium rpms and dont be afraid to be slightly aggressive
if youre cutting aluminum, use medium - medium low rpms and dont be aggressive. alu is soft and wants to bind the blade constantly.

practice on scrap before cutting for real, to get a feel for it. wear goggles

get em from ebay... super cheap ... you dont need the dremel brand unless u really feel the need to spend a fortune 100 reinforced discs for 12 dollars and free shipping and they work and cut just the same as the dremel brand

I don't have any scrap lying around! but it is definitely scary cutting steel. I cut out the fan grills a couple weekends ago, and it scared the poo outta me.

again, I don't own a dremel, thus I don't even need to spend this much money.
