Ah, I was just about to submit another project for class to get cut, and I checked out the materials page for the Laser Cutter and it says no metals, PVC, or foam board. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Paper and wood - lots of ply and balsa, most likely.

That's what I was wondering ever since you started this thread. Metal cutting requires a LOT of power - 500W plus, and MASSIVE power supply (they are very inefficient)..

This is why I own 2 waterjets and no lasers. With pretty much anything other than metal, a laser will reduce structural integrity or just not be able to cut it.

you need a special expensive kind of laser cutter to go through metal, because it needs to fill the inside up with an inert gas so it doesnt react with the heat and air and burn. (or at least thats what i was told)
