I'm an Architect major at Texas Tech University, and we have a Laser Cutter that is available for student use. I've only used it for projects so far, but I was thinking about using it to cut the window hole in the side panel for my Lian Li PC-7 case. I just wasn't sure if laser cutting it would have any negative side effects with the aluminum finish or not. Will it or am I good to go?

I wouldn't think so, considering that the laser would cut through it so quickly. Just make sure the excessive heat isn't going to warp the panel (I would assume you'd be ok since the panel will be lying on a flat surface, right?).
Another thing that comes to mind is the paint job on the case. Not sure how that would be affected by the heat.

You might try a test piece of material.

I dont see how it could hurt, but I would definitely try some test material first before putting something that expensive in there.

As long as the laser is powerful enough for cutting metals (i.e. not just plastics / cardboard etc) then it's fine, we do it all the time for customers.

That's the thing - what is the wattage of this laser? It takes a beefy one to cut metal, even thin aluminum.
Also, what makes you think your case panel is aluminum? Every case I've owned is steel.. ..a
