Default Polycarb/acrylic question?

Alright so I am building a tech bench for a guy and I have a quick question. The majority of the build is polycarb, but some parts of the design are only made from acrylic. My question is can I use weld On to adhere the 2 different materials together?

From what I'm reading, you should be all right using Weld-On, however, Weld-On #16 looks like it would work better for this bonding application than formula #3.

I recall reading something about a special weld-on formula for this application. It can definitely be done, and you should be able to find the appropriate solvent adhesive with a quick google.

I also recommend that you do some tests and practice welding acrylic to polycarbonate before you start your actual project.

Try weld-on #3 or #4 on a test piece, Methyl Ethyl Keytone might join it but use it in a very well ventilated area Methyl Ethyl Keytone is extremly toxic.

LOL I am not one for liking toxic chems. My father painted for years and used toxic chems. He never used proper protection, and ventilation. Unfortunately he has passed away from cancer so I am very weary on seriously toxic chemicals. I will try #3, or #4, and if it fails on scrap pieces I will tear the net apart and do some in depth research. I was just hoping some one here had personal experience.

Weld-on 3 and 4 are both toxic and may cause cancer if you live in CA.

Sorry to here that,

Just use 100% acrylic that way you know it will weld together like one solid piece.

any of those would work in theory but the one that would work best would be #16 but your should just try all of them get some little pieces of each material stick them together then try to pull them apart with some vice grips see home much it slides the one that slides the least is probably your answer
