I'm planning on going water cooled fairly soon, and I'm planning to go a little nuts with it, so I'm going to get a fairly small psu 400 watts most likely, and ive seen that you can get always on atx parts that keep the psu on at all times, I've also seen online small switches, though honestly the switches on those duck, so anyone have any idea (and how to do it with the idea) on how to make an on switch with a military style switch for a psu?
i would like to point out that im VERY bad with tools though i can get someone to use the tools for me but the tools have to be fairly cheap to buy/rent

All that the always on adapters do is connect the green wire of the 20/24 pin harness to any one of the grounds (black wires); so you can easily wire that through any switch you like.

But if you have to extend any wires, then I'd strongly recommend soldering them rather than just twisting the wires together. Also, wherever possible I use heatshrink instead of electrical tape.Soldering tools and heatshrink are fairly inexpensive

Why not just run the 2nd PSU off the primary? People had issue when a family member needed to use their PC and didn't turn on the 2nd PSU.
I believe Burn had a TEC rig that fried when this happened to him....

What I said earlier was based on using a mechanical switch to control the secondary PSU. To have it controlled by the PC as well, all that would have to be done is that the PN_ON (green) lead and one of the grounds of the secondary PSU would have to be spliced with the same wires from the master PSU; IIRC, one can also purchase pre-wired adapters for this purpose (most likely from Performance PCs.
Edit: here is the correct adapter
