Question key-turn power switch?

i've been thinkin about doing this for a while. i want to change my power switch over to a key'd switch (where if i take the key out, no one can start it without opening the case up, etc)

whats the best place to find a switch like that? im thinking about either mounting it to the top or to the side of the case, depending on the mounting depth of the switch

i think it'd be fun to have that ignition type start on a pc, insert key-turn-hear fans and drives all wind up for a second then calm down, lol.

Are you looking for switch that is like an ignition switch?
ie. crank it on for a second to turn the machine on...
You'd need to look for one that acts as a momentary switch.

Or you could have one that acts like a "lock-out" switch...in conjunction with a normal momentary power button...
ie.>> the key needs to be inserted and switched to the on position before the power button functions normally.
either way:

i was thinking about doing a momentary switch, the in-line switch is more secure, but im mainly interested in this for novelty purposes. if someone REALLY wanted my pc on, they'd just have to open the case and hit the on-board power button on my motherboard

I've done the on/off key switch...you have to turn the key and then you can push the buttons on the front i/o panel.

It works like a charm, especially to keep the little ones from pressing buttons, hehe.

I'm contemplating adding another key switch, but a momentary one just for the power as well, but by doing that...it's going to over crowd my front i/o panel...I already have too many switches and buttons happening in there :S
