Default HAF 932 mod thought/question

Hey this would be my first major mod on a case. (Besides cutting the top of my CM690 for a rad) I am thinking about putting a 240 rad in the front of the case where the HDD cage is. Now I know I will probably need to take out the front fan and cut into part of the 5.25 drive bays. Now is it safe to cut into the 5.25 drive bays from the bottom? Will it still be able to support drives in open non-blocked slots? Will the case just crumble? Has any one done this before? Any help would be great. +Rep for most posts, mostly helpful ones

Well, if you don't want to mount it on the top of the case (which I would do because it's easy and I'm lazy) but, let's see how it will work on the front. I'm assuming that the rad. has a length of ~280mm - 300mm or 11" to 12", measuring my 932 right next to me, I can see that I would have to cut at least the bottom two 5.25" bays out. Unless the rad. is slim and less than 5.25" across, you won't have to cut out the bay walls.

The bottom of the 5.25" rack connects to the HDD bay by at least two rivets:

And either side has 3 rivets per side holding it to the front of the case:

If you really want to go through with this, I'd do things in this order:
1. Remove the exo of the case, both sides, top, front.
2. Drill out and remove all (I think there's 10) rivets holding the 5.25" to the front and the HDD bays.
3. Measure and check your radiators depth and width. (Don't forget about the extra dimensions that fans will add!)
4. Cut to compensate for those measurements.
5. Drill holes and mount the radiator.
6. Put the 5.25" rack on and re-attach it to the HDD first, and then to the front of the case.
7. Connect the rad. and have water cooling goodness.

You will be able to use the other four slots. The case is steel and weighs almost 30 lbs without anything in it, I doubt you'll have to worry about structural integrity. Just make sure you resecure the 5.25" rack to the HDD rack and the front of the case with screws.
