i bought a new 120mm fan for my case and wheni plug it in via a molex connector it sounds like a jet engine. when i plug it in wia the 3 pin connector to the mobo it don't come on at all (leds or spins up) and i idea on how to sort this?

go in to the bios & enable the cpu fan,then the 3 pin should work on the motherboard,other than that u will need a fan controller to slow the fan down

will pluging it in to the mobo reduce the noise? (reduse fan rpm's?)

Make sure that super fan does not pull more amps than your mobo can safely supply. I have two 120x38 Deltas that pull 3.0 amps each at start-up. this is way too much for a mobo to handle,in fact they came with a warning not to connect to a mobo.

make sure that it's seated properly on the CPU, and it might be a good idea to get a good fan controller, and set the speed to low

Noobclocker states its a case fan not a cpu fan so cpu seating is not and issue.

Your options are either getting a fan controller (I'd suggest a Sunbeam Rheobus, as long as your fans are ~20W or less you'd be fine), or soldering a resistor onto the fan wire itself.

why would it have a mobo connector on it if itisn't ment to be connected to the mobo?
