Hi, I was wondering if I could use a Momentary Slide Switch such as this:
http://parts.digikey.ca/1/1/45283-sw...1132-0003.html to turn on my PC (Power SW)? "Switch Function: On-Mom" Which if I am not mistaken it's "Normally Open - Momentary"? This switch is a SPDT while the normal Power SW if I recall is SPST, so that should be fine. Any information would be great! Thanks! |

That would work fine. Personally I'd be more likely to use a momentary rocker switch.
But so long as it's momentary (normally open) you're fine. Just wire it into the PWR header and you're good to go.

Thanks mate!
It will be used for a mod in which I need a slide switch. Now I need to find one that either ships to Australia (that takes paypal) or is in Australia. Thanks again for your help! |

No worries. Try Dick Smith Electronics if you're willing to pay up to $5 for it. You'll be able to get it cheaper online, but it'll take longer.

or http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.fi...ogs/CTG1000955 (not sure if they're momentary, didn't check)

I'd look for something a little more rugged.
Those types of switches don't last long. And, besides, that's really ugly.

Thanks but the switch isn't going to be seen. You have got me thinking of using a different type of switch and mounting it differently. |

Digi-key doesn't have a datasheet linked, but judging from the pic that can be wired for either on-(off), off-(on), or on-(on) operation so that would work. That said, Digi-key has a minimum order quantity (IIRC $25) so, unless you're planning on ordering more stuff as well, I'd search somewhere that does not have a min order.

Www.gammods.com.au has the switches you want.

Not sure they're right either.
It seems he wants a momentary switch, in PCB mount slider form. Seems these aren't easy to get in Aus. I'd be recommending maybe SuperCheap Auto or something like that now. Doesn't seem to be specifically a computer part.
