Default DVD Drive Screw Size

So i am working on a new case and had ordered this for my drive bay http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=4177. Problem is that the current screws that you normally use for a metal bay are way to short to go through the 8mm of acrylic. No problem, i go to the local Home Depot look for some longer screws but they didn't have any and the employee had no idea what kind of screws they were.

So my problem?
What type of screws do you use for DVD/CD drives?

My whole project has stalled because i dont have the right kind of screws for my drives.

Any help with my dilemma will be appreciated!

Mine are about 3MM but you need to go through another 8mm of acrylic. So about 11MM's should work.

they are M3 size, not sure on thread pitch though.

EDIT: Normal screws are 5mm long, M3 diameter, and 0.5mm thread pitch. 8 + 5 = 13, round off to 12mm length.... these should work: 92832A221

beat me to it lol

on the plus side, 6-32's used a lot in PC stuff. it's probably my most frequently used tap while case modding.

Actually optical drives don't use the same 6-32 screws that everything else does.

Most of them use M3x5, 0.5mm pitch screws, some use #4-40 screws.

I found out the screw is a metric M3 screw, while HDDs use 6-32 as well as several other things. Was able to find enough screws at a Lows store to get me buy, but they were expensive, so i ordered the rest online for a lot cheaper, I don't know why America has to be the only country with weird measuring system, everything should be metric, make it much easier to get stuff done.

I agree, factors of 10 would be immensely easier than imperial stupidity, but then again, imperial stupidity is a waste of time and a distraction that is intentional
