It looked cool--but actually the res tended to warm up the entire case.

I eliminated the res all together and for a few days had the side open on the rig--which is just tempting fate with my curious son around--he is fascinated by computer guts....anyway I dug the original side panel out of storage and whipped up the deal.

Not something that took a lot of time or planning--I thought about doing it for a day then went to Lowes and got the 1/8" plexi and went out back and started working--about an hour in it really not counting shopping...

Much happier now that changing out an expansion card only takes a few minutes instead of half an hour...temps are about the same...

Thanks for the compliments P!
I think you have inspired my future build... when conroe and m2 comes out, im doing a complete system upgrade, and plan to convert a 6500 BTU window AC unit to a phase unit. so im lookin for a big case to put it all in and maybe i can pull it all off with a design similar to yours. Once again i love that L shape and plexi/mesh combo... where did you get the mesh? Crazypc hase some similar, or is it like the leafe covers for gutters?

ShawnMcGrail gave me a link I to MNPCTech.com. http://mnpctech.com/ or for hex modders mesh--they sell a tiny chunk off a huge sheet for way more than it's worth--but who needs a huge sheet of hex mex laying around?

I also got a cool t shirt like a Rat Fink version of a case modder with a Dremel in his Fangs...

Awesome guide! This'll come in handy with the mod I'm working on. I just have one question though. I wanted to use screws and bolts to secure the window to the side panel. Do you have any suggestions on the distance I should put the screws?
