I will take a few posts to attach all the images--thought I'd include a little about how I made the fane hole as well....
1) I took some high-impact 1/8" plexiglass (Lowes) and cut it to the desired dimensions ( 14 9/16" square) and notched it to accept the corner posts 2) Here is how it looks with the protectve film still on it. 3) Close up just to show off my tight joinery.... 4) Here's the 110 VAC 120mm Dayton 70 cfm fan to get an idea if the platic will support its weight. 5) I used a permanent marker and a straight edge to align the fan dead center and to trace the actual fan hole. See the next Post for pics of the fan install

To keep my rig from smothering...
1) Primitive yet effective--my outdoor shop--been a little rainy lately 2) An assortment of holesaws and a stout drill come in handy... 3) Close enough for the next step 4) A Dremel on steroids--my favorite all purpose implement: the flap-wheel sander; good for enlarging, smoothing, deburring, paint and rust removal, shaping--it's even good for sanding. 5) Protective film peeled off for test placement of the fan to check alignment. In the next post the final install onto the case.

It's all smoke and mirrors--changed to a Nexxus .30A 12VDC 120mm at the last minute (same size as the Dayton) because it was easier to mount and lighter and quieter.
1) 120mm Nexxus Silent with a chrome perforated grill mounted to the acrylic 2) Installed on Crunch--the floating flourescent fan 3) Why the top panel fanel needs a protective grill 4) Why the top panel is impact resistant (he was pounding it pretty good) 5) With the top on the case the fan and panel are just barely visible. That's it so far

Yeah I keep slipping them in there...should be getting some loot (tax return) and will likely get an 805 on an Asus mobo--looking for a cheap start--have one HDD and a line on another--some salvaged mobo trays are coming and I need to upgrade the PSU on the new build anyway--so that will give me a 400 watt POS Mad Dog PSU to put into Crunch.

I was thinking, wouldnt AMD be better? They seem to run cooler, and considering your putting 4 dual core CPU's into this beast, its gonna kick out some decent heat.
It could heat a room through the winter all by itself, folding 24/7 ![]()

Another selling point to the wife! Actually you are 100% correct RE: heat from the Smithfields. The new 9XX dualies are more scrimptomonious and the Core Duo (T2600) is polly the best at 31W. Waiting on decent mobos for the T2600--but that is a pricey chip. I am set on dual core--and AMD still is higher than INtel there.
