SWEET!!! hey i have an idea for air cooling... If you can keep the middle of the case fairly clean, you can form a vortex inside the case causing all the air to spin like a tornado and flow massive ammounts of air over the heatsinks while being fairly quiet and you could then use fanless heatsinks. The only problem is figuring out how to form the vortex cone on the top of the case and what fan(s) to use placed the the bottom (or vice versa).

And yea i think 2 D5's should handle the waterflow pretty easily. But whats the rad. gonna be?

If the bottom fans are all tilted and angled they should push it around somewhat--as a work in progress it might very well start off aircooled and work it's way towards WC silence....the way the lid sits on top there are 1" by 12" slots at the top of each side which will do something to split the exit flow into fourths--should make the air spool over the mobos below those slots. Sounds like that could be tested with smoke. I think if I keep it as simple as possible it will have the best chance of coming together soon.

Right now I'm tight for PC fundage--but within 3months that will change. Not exactly good for my immediate gratification but not really an eternity. If I keep pecking away at it piece by piece--and I have to keep open to improvements and good deals on computer guts--not exactly my usual way of operating but I think I can wrap my mind around it. Usually I throw a whole bunch of money at a project and do it exactly the way I want the first time,

Due to restrictive funding for PC projects I will have to creep forward and take advantage of what good fortune comes my way.

I am really psyched about all this positive response!

Sounds good... keep an eye oput on newegg on the weekends because i have noticed thats when they have the most "sales"

As for the vortex if it could be made it would be done by haveing the proper cone in the top of the case, and at the bottom have fans pulling air in through the top cone and exhausting out the bottom, and the good thing about a vortex is the air spins at extreme speeds, like hundreds of mph, so the cpu temps would pretty much be at or 1-2c above ambient. The hard part is creating the vortex cone the right size for the case. But its only an idea for cheap air cooling with expensive WC results....

i dont know if this will help...how about popping up the stool on each corner about 2 inches....and put some fans in the middle... sort of like the vortex idea....get like an industrial grade fan that will fit inside or some just really expensive brushless fan....with some nice passive coolers...i think that might work on a budget.

I have an idea how to do that--in my shop I had dust collectors set up that used a vortex to seperate large pieces form light pieces of dust and chips so that the heavy pieces went in a bin instead of the dust collector. It would probably only work in a round enclosure, though.

should research some high grade fans to pop in the middle....

http://www.comforthouse.com/comfort/vornadofans.html

i think this 4 mobo on the 4 sides setup is going to work absolutely perfect...heat goes up... air in the middle.... research fans//air flow and stuff.

thats exactly what to do... thats how the Dyson cacum cleaners work, though those are extreme vortex chambers... And i think it will work fine in the square case because we are only trying to get some high airflow, not a true vortex, which i think if you formed a true high speed vortext you would shred your pc guts...LOL

IMO you should really try the vortex idea for cooling if you can make the cone for it. But if that fails then build the massive WC setup.

yea this guy knows it....btw i think w/c would be more effecient..and quiet...i mean air going at hundreds of mph... or even 50mph...it makes alot of noise..
id say make a kickass designed WC setup inside the case with loops through Heatsinks and all sorts of goodness....
