Default Noob and Visual Basic
So I'm in this programming class this year and we are going to start with visual basic. I really am willing to learn but our teacher sucks and just gives us assignments without teaching. I don't even know the Basics! Well I have to make a simple calculator that can add, divide, multiply, and subtract as well as a timer that counts down our classes and how long we have left in each class.... PLEASE HELP... We are using Visual Studio 2005... I'm going to read so tutorials and figure some stuff out other then that could someone help or give me hints... What are the basic functions or operations?

K, here you go...now I'm not going to do your homework for ya . But this is a simple framework to introduce you to event driven GUI interfaces. It will allow you to add 1,2 or 3 together. It's up to you to add the remaining functionality.

Unzip this and click on the CALC1.SLN file...it's called a solution file. The entire VS2005 application should come up when you do. You can ask me more detailed questions when you play with it.

Make note of the naming conventions I'm using. KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Ok thanks alot..... I can really build on that... THIS REALLY HELPs.. if I run into problems then I'll ask... for now I'm gonna figure this out...

uh I've run into a problem... I don't know whats wrong but it won't add.... I haven't set the division,sub,or multiply yet... please take a look at my project and help ... that would be awesome...

under cmdequal_Click

You've got "Total = txtbox.Text" the wrong way round

Total = num1+num2 (you correctly assign Total to the calculated total)
Total = txtbox.Text (but straight after you overwrite it by assigning Total with whatever is in the textbox)
