Lightbulb I wan't TO see this done...
I was wondering What IF you Clock A opteron like mine to 600-800mhz on each core And Since they already run so cool Could you run it like that Without the heatsink fan If you turned the voltage down also...
It would be kinda cool Cause I turned the voltz all the way down on my AMD K6-2 and It ran without a Heatsink...


Just wondering...
I'm not gonna try it I'm not gutsy enough...

Yea! It's called undervolting. It can be done just make sure your computer is stable with those settings.

Don't run it with out a heatsink. Even if it only has 1.2 volts in it. Don't do it.

OH! without the heatsink fan. Lol I should really read all of it more often. I wouldn't do it without the heatsink but undervolting can allow you to run your fan slower allowing it to be quieter.
