I have used bluej and tried it once eclipse didn't open but it doesn't really work on Ubuntu.
I can't specify where to search on eclipse. Once I open it I get that dialog and it exits

How did you install it, with apt-get or did you install it yourself? And for some reason its trying to use java 1.4.
So maybe 1.4 is not installed and eclipse is only looking at that and then closing even though there maybe 5.0 or 6.0 installed.
