I just got a magnetic stripe reader from work. It was used for credit cards and gift cards, but we replaced them. I was wondering if anybody could fin me a program that can read and write magnetic stripes. This is not for making fake credit cards! I'm working on a project for school and this could help me a lot.

What's the card reader interface? Serial/Parallel/USB/Proprietary connector? Without the proper connect, you're going to have a heck of a time reading from it. Also, what are you planning on reading? Unless you know what you're supposed to be reading (ie. the way the data is stored on the strip) you're just going to get a bunch of random values.

Its usb and I've already used it in textpad and it just gives out the values of what you slide through it, like I swipped my health club pass and my name and phone number came out in text.
