Default my first real program!

hi everyone, well I've been learning vb.net myself and I just finished my first real original program!

pretty much it is a program in which you can tell it your name, class period, teacher etc and it will automatically create a new ms word document with your info as the heading!

it saves entered information in an xml file so you can store as many class/period/teacher combos as you want and you do not have to retype everything every time you use the program!

as well, every field is a drop down box, and you have the option to set it so that if you choose a period, it will automatically change the teacher/subject for you

screenshots below!

EDIT: Final version is the link my my sig!

enjoy!

hmm i could probably work on that, actually that came across my mind but i decided to first see if i could to get it to work, just a few minutes of editing would do the trick, the reason i used that format is b/c thats jsut what i usually use!

I'll see if i can edit it so it has the option for my heading and mla also

i could probably use a pair of radio buttons or something like that

thanks for the replies, if you find any bugs in it please let me know!

oh yea, and the installer thing says windowsapplication1 because when i started this program i didnt know i was actually gonna turn it into something so i didnt give it a name lol

Nice job, I don't know anything about vb.net, but yeah, once you get in to GUIs then the length of the will grow quite a bit.

Keep up the good work.

Nice program. Did you use microsoft's built in word support to do that?

Anyways, I would like to see the source, to see what you actually did.

By the way. For those of you who never knew VB.NET, making a GUI takes absolutely NO skill. A 4 year old could do it.

the MLA format is still slightly a work in progress, I just need to fix how it puts 2 empty lines between the page number/last name instead of 1 line like it should!

I expect to finish it fairly soon, and there is a new interface, I will post the screenshot soon, however I want to fix the mla function before i make the installer for the new program.

edit - oh wait i figured it out i just put it into a .zip folder and uploaded it like that!

and in the screenshot, thats the new interface, and the red stuff i painted in with the arrows shows where the problem is, I want to reduce the size of those spaces, otherwise its ready to go!

also, I left the regular option intact because that is how i personally like to start my papers if i dont need mla. the regular option produces a document that looks like the one in the screenshots from my first post.

and yea - the gui is the easy part lol
