Default excel help please!

hey all,

i work in I.T, but im crap with excel, basically, i started 3 weeks ago, and they hacve hard ware every where so im creating an excel spred sheet that automatically adds, subtracts etc, but what i want, is,

say for instance we have colum a = make of hard drive

a = make of hard drive
b= capicity
H7:H30 = interface I.E sata, pata scsi
D = qauntity

now what i want, is in colum h if anything apart from S-ata P-ata or SCSI is entered between H7:H30 then i want a box to appear and say error in input or just a cell that does that, myu boss showed me once quickly but he gone to lunch, he used something along the lines of =SUMIF(H7:H30<>0"error" but i cant remember

cheers people

for reference, type in =SUMIF in a cell and then hit the = symbol up top. It provides you with guidelines.

How about this for restricting what values are entered in H7:H30...

Use Data Validation (List) - where the list is located @ BA1:BA3

Basically when you need to enter a drive interface type, just select it from the drop down list in the column. BTW, it will only let you select a interface type from the list, you can't just type anything in there or you will get an error message.

If you need anything else, just let me know.
