honestly, no idea. i only have/use xp so thats what this has been written for and tested in. you are more than welcome to test it out and make any changes to it you'd like to make it work in vista. but only if you are comfortable with this sort of stuff.

I would test this if my registry wasnt already tweaked to hell and back. Next time i reformat though im gonna run this to save some time since most of those tweaks are time consuming to go through and do manually, usually taking me like 2-3 hours to fully tweak my os to my liking, good **** man +rep for the effort

thanks. what other tweaks have you done? i've been looking to add more.

also i made seperate .reg files for each one so people can choose which ones they want to do. i'll upload those in a zip file later.

I installed it on my PC and on the laptop (both Vista - PC is x64 Home Premium, Laptop is 32-bit Business) and while it worked, on the laptop i no longer see all the user accounts on the laptop, just "Credential Manager" (Pre-loaded HP user account) and "Other User", which then makes me type the username and password.

Could you post any of the .reg files that would have caused this? Preferably with some way of going back to normal settings?

i use the classic logon instead of the welcome screen that xp defaults to. one of the reg keys in the file makes it so when the classic login window comes up the last users name doesn't appear in the box already.

did you make a backup of your registry before running this? if so, just import that. otherwise you will have to wait til later today or tomorrow so i can look at it and see what it should be. i am at work right now so i can't do much.

this should fix it

open the registry and browse to this key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\System

and change "DontDisplayLastUserName" to 0

YAY! Works great! Thanks!

PS - To anyone on Vista, disabling Readyboost service just dropped mem usage from 56% idle to 39%. YAY!
