Thanks for everyones feedback, I'm hoping to update and revamp this soon and I need everyones input. I would like to make it interactive, so the user can select which ones to run as many people have suggested. I'll start by making a list of reg edits that will be available. Please suggest any you would like to see as well.

Disable showing last user name at login
Add "rename" option to Recycle bin
Shutdown faster tweaks
sort start menu
Various tweaks to speed up the start menu and windows

An interactive version will also be ALOT safer as users can choose which ones to implement rather than all of them at once.

I would rather have the list of items and do it manually. No disrespect, but I think running a random registry script like this can be potentially unsafe.

I had stated that earlier in the thread also. However any registry tweak is a potential risk. However if he were to make it interactive and allow you to choose each individual tweak thats a little better.

I can certainly understand anyones hesitation or mistrust. However, what guarantee do you have that any program you run isn't doing something behind the scenes that you don't see? I plan on doing this all through a batch file for now, so its easy for any one to open it and check the contents or edit it themselves for verification.

As enterprise stated, any registry edit is a potential risk, however I have no intention of putting harmful information in this. If you read through this thread you can see I have helped everyone that had a question and/or problem from this. Obviously I can't test this program in every scenario so some people might not get the results expected but I am here to help, as is the rest of the OCN community. I'm also implementing a registry backup and restore function in case of a problem.

I have attached the new registry backup and restore batch file. I have tested this on XP Pro. I have NOT tested this in Vista, I have not looked at the registry in Vista, so I do not know if they are similar.

Again, this is for XP only!

Please try it out and let me know if you have any problems or would like to make any suggestions.

Directions: unzip file, run .bat file. You will be prompted to choose Backup, Restore, or Exit. After the choice is made and completed you are brought back to the start menu (or the program is closed).

OK here it is so far, I have added it to the Backup and restore part so it will do all of it.

Just unzip the file, run the batch file and it will run the keys that you select from the folder. Or if you really want to, you can just run the keys straight from the folder.

NOTE: This program will not do anything until YOU choose to, nothing is run automatically.

VERY NICE!

It looks spectacular and very well organized in the batch file. I could actually read everything and follow along with the process.

One more thing. You should add directions to backup the registry first and then do the tweaks. Maybe an initial screen where they are prompted with that and then a pause (Press any key to continue...)
