Default Password Gen

I wrote a little program that will generate random passwords. The .exe as well as the source code is available. The program was written in C and I didn't comment (sorry).

Current Version 1.1.1.

Change Log:

1.0.0 - Initial Version
1.0.1 - Include the ability to save password to file
1.1.0 - Ability to change file name, includes error bound (Password Length 0-26 aloud)
1.1.1 - Added additional error bound checking that was missed in 1.1.0

To be added to new version:
  • Ability to generated new password if current gen is not desired.
  • Ability to rename file name if current filename already exist and user does not want to overwrite.
  • Ability to append (add to) current password files.
  • Add special characters to password.
Java Version

The Java version of Password Gen is a lightweight application that has no GUI. It follows the following command line argument:

*active director*: java PasswordGen DesiredLength a-z A-Z 0-9 special

For example: *active director*: java PasswordGen 10 1 1 1 0

would yield a random password with 10 characters made up of a through z, A through Z, and 0 through 9.

Paul: Yes it can.
......

This app would help me at work when I create new user accounts. No more silly 'abc123' passwords.

It was a friendly joke. I respect Pauldovi as a programmer, he is far superior to me. I was merely pointing out it is a very simple ,yet useful, program. Some of the best applications out use this to their advantage.

I can make a smaller version that doesn't prompt the user for a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and doesn't clear the memory that contained the randomly generated password. I suspect it would be about 7kb .

That is not a bug. That is the user being malicious.
