I don't think being a programmer changes the way you think. I think being an "above average person" changes the way you think. Whether we're discussing programms (who think about how to recode their PDA) engineers (who always want to redeisng something they own to be more efficent) or medical researchers who are always trying to redefine how we look at something. Higher educated, or naturally intelligent people, generall function differently than average joe, and your brian just aligns itself more towards what interest you. I"m a programmer in no way, but i am an engineer. I constantly look at thing and think about how they could've been designed better.

It didn't change the way I looked at problems, oddly enough while growin up when I looked at programs I looked using similar solutions that I use when looking at our C++ homework / assignments. For me, C++ kind of just fit perfectly and it made sense, even when I haven't gone to a single class and the midterm was insanely easy for me...

I think I agree more with this than any of the other ideas put forth. Programming itself doesn't require a different mindset than engineering or biology (I'm a genetics/CS student myself).

I'm going to be all elitist and stuff, but html isn't a programming language... it's a Markup Language... that said, I do know what you mean when you think IRL the way you might think of problems at work.

HTML is not counted as a true programming language. It is counted as a scripting language and is far from being anything like a real language.

hahaha good to see i'm not crazy.

for me it started as seeing things in if-loops and do-whiles... that grew into some really creepy human processor things.

The worst being one night i'm driving home from a friend's house just casually thinking about the things currently on my plate [one of which being a build i was doing], i remember thinking how fast it was going to be, and if it would be 'faster' than me, then i started wondering how fast i was and how many lines of math it would take to bring me to my knees, that got me to wondering what speed my processor was, then it hit me that i didnt have a processor at all in me and i got this sinking feeling, like it didnt make any sense. this entire thought process happened between the beginning and end of an exit ramp on Long Island's wantagh parkway (about 15 seconds, i'd say)

sounds like a completely ridiculous story now that i'm typing it out, but it happened.
so anyway, i got home and got into bed, that 15 seconds burned me out for the night
