Default [Question] Qt3 or Qt4

I'm mostly web developer and now I want to go for Application programming with GUI.

I wanted a cross-platform toolkit and the choices were GTK or Qt. After some research I founded that Qt is more documented. I was on KDE already so my choice was Qt. I have experience with C, so going to C++ won't be hard.
Now the problem is "Qt3 or Qt4". My brother recommended me Qt3, but there is no big difference.
So I come to you for advice, OCN people.

Thank In Advance.

If you're going QT, go QT4 as it does provide a lot of improvements, and if you have GTK users they can use the QT/GTK theme that exists for it, which is nice.

(GTK is usually better in terms of cross-platform capabilities. QT is pretty much slaved to C++, regardless of what extra bindings may exist, while GTK embraces other platforms and languages, giving you everything from Python to C# to even PHP to work with, plus with GTK, you're guaranteed a QT-theme engine as that's a given with KDE distros)

Unless there's a reason to use Qt3 specifically, it's generally better to use the latest release

In PHP is not that way.
If you use PHP 6, it won't be supported on all the servers and it's not production.
After PHP 5 released, there was PHP 5.2 that wasn't full compatible with 5.0. A year ago many people would still use PHP 4 (like me, but I found that in July 2007 they discontinued PHP 4 support)

Having used both I can say there's no reason to go with Qt3 that I can think of.

Of course there are exceptions, that would qualify as a reason to use an old version. Like I said, unless there is a specific reason not to, just use the latest release
