You're gonna have to give yourself easier goals, such as a terminal-based diary or sudoku solver.

As you obviously have no programming experience, don't start with C++. There are a number of threads asking 'what language to learn first'. I would recommend starting with C. Once you're comfortable with C, start experimenting with other languages.

C++ is a good language to start programming; it's definitely better than C. C++ is basically C with heaps of additional features, but that doesn't mean it's harder to master the basics - it will actually be easier. C is some kinda middleground between assembly and other high-level programming languages, and IMO is a terrible language to start learning programming with. "You need to know C before learning C++" and "C is easier than C++" are common misconceptions. Quote:
![]() @OP - you need to start small; there's no way anyone could start learning how to program by trying to create a hack for a game. Don't worry what other people may say, C++ is a good language for a beginner, possibly not the best but there's absolutely nothing wrong with starting off with C++, except it'll be a little longer before you're up to creating programs with GUIs as C++ doesn't have built-in visual component libraries.
