As the question asks, what is the size you guys prefer to design in for websites? I am new in this area, ive spent my 15 years as a print designer and im starting to learn the digital side. I know how to do flash well. I will be nose deep in the web area at the beginning of the year. I dont know Actionscipt, but i hear its very similar to java. Now im just trying to get my site up and ive got the general design done, my business tends to a wide range. So im debating on 1152x864. What what you guys use and why?

1280x1024 or 1280x800(widescreen). By FAR the most common resolutions out there right now.
Or if you want to be nice design it at 1024x600 and make it expand to fit any resolution.

Yeah, that thread title makes me wonder what you're really after... I was actually going to say something along the lines of 15.6"

I agree with the 1024x768...with the (now not so recent) rise in netbooks and smaller screens with lower resolutions, this is, and should be, at the forefront of most site designs. Not saying I don't like taking full use of a nice 1920x1200 or better screen, but the lower res on site design also allows for easier multitasking.

my screen is 1360x768 so it needs to fit in on this, newegg for example does not, however i usually force the client to have enough content to be atleast 1200px tall for you few big monitor ppl. and the background image, IF any is always atleast 1600x1200, for those same big monitor ppl.
