The 8800 GS was yielding me around 4700 PPD.. not a bad chunk of points IMO

8800GT 5100ppd-5200ppd. That what I average. My old 939 Opty 165 has been getting 190ppd-300ppd. Not impressive on the CPU but that 8800GT is great

I would say Quad cores feeding SMP/ VMware clients and as many 8800 GS's you can get
as far as I know, the GS has the same core as a GT... thats what really matters I believe Once the NVIDIA GPU2 CLient bugs are ironed out... you could probably set up an AMD based Quad with that one board that sports 4 PCIe slots, and use 4 GS's in non-sli config to just use it for pure rendering for F@H This 1 particular rig, assuming the QUad does about 2k on its own, and each GPU does 4700 (yes, extra load, but assuming drivers will make it faster, I will nullify that part)... That one rig can fold up to 20.8k PPD all on it's own.... !!!!

you've got me confused, which is best for me, currently using the 6.10 b3 client, would i be more productive using a gpu based client? if i did use gpu client, would i still be able to use the pc as i do now, ie folding going on, still have full use of everything (folding slows to free cycles)

The 8800GS has 96 Stream Processors while the 8800GT has 112 Stream Processors. The cores may be the same, but the performance is not.

Whoa, switch to the GPU client now!! Just think about it; 5000 PPD. There are driver issues which are addressed on this thread. http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...ah-6-12-a.html

No problem
![]() To be honest they are both great cards. I would prefer my GT to the GS, but for a budget build I'd recommend the GS. Now for an extra $50 you could get the GT.
