Ok, we are working on getting rig #2 setup now. We are going to use the same hardware as rig #1 with the exception of the PSU. We are going to try the 500w Earthwatt PSU, since it's half the cost. We need to locate 4 good folding cards for cheap, as we did in rig #1. That's all that we are waiting on here, once we locate the cards, we can start ordering the parts for rig #2.

BTW why don't people send paypal payments as a gift via the 'personal payment tab' - I believe you don't have to pay fees that way (I know most of the donations for rig #1 were from a while ago, so that would not be an option, but if you can save a few dollars why not)

cheapest i can find is in eVGA's b-stock for $70. are we only looking for evga cards? or would other brands be ok as well?

9600gso's are on there for $70 as well, and have dual slot coolers.

heres a $59.99 9600GSO on the egg (dual slot) with 96 SP's. Is that the good one or the not as good one?
Since I don't have money to contribute, I will instead contribute my time and try to find the best deals.

I'm just not sure if gibson wants to use dual slots or single slots. single's at least have room to breathe as there will be 4 of them sandwiched in there.

Smasher and Smoke, thank you very much for your efforts. I would like to get single slot cards if at all possible. Like Smoke stated, it's really tight with those dual slot cards, no breathing room. I will keep the 9600 you posted as a back up. I have already sent Evga a message, asking for more 8800GS's. I don't expect to hear back from them til monday or tuesday, since I emailed them on saturday. By the way gentlemen, rep+ for the effort.

I found PNY 8800GT on the egg for $115. There should be some really great deals on Black Friday, and even 'Net Monday - according to the egg. If you've waited this long, might as well see what deals present themselves on those days.

They also have a single-core AM2 Sempron 64 3800+ Retail for $20 with free shipping. Gibson mentioned that he was thinking about going with single-core to save a few dollars, and this puts a HSF in the package as well.

I just took a gander at the PSU listed on the first page, and it is on sale until the 26th for $55 with free shipping.

wamubu, as for the 8800gt's. i'm pretty sure gibson wants to go with the 8800gs's as they can pull around the same PPD for half that price.

and the link for the CPU you listed in broken, seems like a good deal if gibson wants to use a single core cpu.
