Valicious has quite a few GSs up for sale for $68 shipped/ea. Also gibby, I would be willing to donate a Jetway board that can support 2 PCI-e cards.

EDIT: looks like val only has 2

I know nitteo is retiring some 8800GT's as well for pretty cheap. Might be worth a shot. Also, let me know how much we need for a third rig, I'm more than willing to donate.

Rig one is producing 11,000 PPD, and rig two should do the same(has same hardware)

This is very decent price/ppd ratio. The problem lies in trying to get cards for a decent price. The kind of deals we got on the previous rigs aren't so easy to find these days.

If we decide to go with better cards, we would have to spend more money on the cards themselves, and we would require a bigger PSU, and that would cost more money as well.

I'll see what I/we can come up with for rig #3. I will let you know Admin.

Are these any good for what you're looking for?

Gigabyte 9600 GSO $80-$30MIR = $50

EVGA 9600 GSO $80-$20MIR = $60

Sparkle 9600 GT $80 + FS

Zotak 9800 GT $120-$20MIR = $100

Zotak 9800 GTX+ $125 (less than same brand 9600 GT that has half the stream processors lol)

XFX GTS 250 $130 + FS

Also, with the F@H advancement in the ATI Drivers, is it (or will it be) worth to re-evaluate ATI? It's hard to find benching for F@H. I found a quote from a forum that they (not sure ATI or Stanford) will continue to optimize the code, and that when fully optimized the 4870 should be about 2.5x faster than the 3870. If I remember right, Stanford benched with the 3870.

Those are indeed some decent cards/prices for folding. At this time, we are set for the cards. We just got the go ahead for 4 8800GT's. Who knows what direction we will take in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to look that up. Always appreciated.

Just a thought, but if you have 3 PCI slots free and single-slot PCI-e cards, are there any PCI cards worth looking at to help with the folding? Or are the gains with a PCI card not worth it? I think the most powerful PCI I found was the NVIDIA 9400 from Sparkle - and it has a 2-slot HS with no fan.

Gibson, I stumbled across this and since you are using an AMD mobo, was wondering if you think about folding with the PhII 920 @ 3.7GHz and getting 9800 GT performance. Cost is about $150 over a 4850e... Not sure how the SB600 will hamper OCing or if you can drop the CPU in those boards you have.
