Default Community Folding Project **Updated with Pics** (rig #1)

The community project is back under way. I'm happy to announce that I have ordered parts for the first round of the community folding project. Here are the current parts.

(1) Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130136 = $149.99

(2) CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103067 = $35.99

(3) RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231098 = $36.99

(4) PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103940 = $99.99

(5) 4x GPU's - http://cgi.ebay.com/EVGA-GeForce-880...QQcmdZViewItem = $199.96 + shipping

(6) H/D - 120GB SATA - donated by Gibsonnova74

(7) Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit - donated by Gibsonnova74

After discussing this progect in full detail, Admin and myself have agreed that I will host OCN's farm. I will be posting pictures of the purchased items, and I will be posting pictures of the rig/rigs once built. We are hoping that this will be one of many folding rigs from the OCN community.

Here is the list of the current contributers for this build.
  • admin - $1,000
  • Kilzon - $150
  • GodofGrunts - $100 ($50 of which is "pending")
  • wannabe_OC - $50
  • Fierceleaf - $50
  • deskjockey - $50

    Total - $1400

Donated Folding Prizes Left to be Allocated: $35

Thanks to all of our contributers!

Here is the current status from this build.

    Started with $1400

  • Parts with shipping = $542.92

  • Electricity for 1 year of folding = $360

  • Paypal fees = $36.57

    Total funds paid = $939.49

Funds left from first build = $460.51

This rig should be up and running within a week, just waiting on parts to arrive.

We are getting ready for rig #2. As we sit now, we are half way there with our current funds.

We have changed our donation setup.

Any member wishing to donate towards the Community Folding Project, can donate hardware or money. Before it was set up that you had to donate $50 or more, this no longer applies. If members have extra hardware that they wish to donate towards the cause, feel free to PM myself, and we can work out the details. Members should also PM myself with the donations. As members donate, I will post in this thread, so we can keep track of where the donations came from, and how much we have. Once we have achieved enough for our next rig, I will purchase the necessary parts, and proceed with the build.

We are hopping that this is the beginning of a huge community project.

Once we start folding with these rigs, all members can keep track of the farms progress. We will be setting up the folding username under "Community_Project" for team 37726.

Gibsonnova74 is the contact person for this project, feel free to PM me anytime reguarding this project. Don't hesitate to PM me with any folding issues you may have also.

Here is the Extreme link to check the status:http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...hp?s=&u=400769 started folding on 11/7/08

And when company comes over, the rig goes nice and neat into position.

LOL, as you can see, I didn't spend alot of time on the folding table. This was built as cheap as possible, after all, you want to get the best bang for the buck. I would much rather spend funds on hardware then the way the farm looks.

This is awesome. I'll have to consider this over my own farm if it means that the hardware and overseeing will be in the hands of somebody that knows what they're doing moreso than I.

I can't wait to see this thing up. I hope this "name" shows up in some of the top folders soon.
